CA phase
Increase in function. Increase in thyroid cells.
Biological utility
1. Increase thyroid hormone production, increase metabolism.
2. Increase thyroxine: the person becomes faster.
Symptoms
Enlarged thyroid, hard goiter with hyperthyroidism.
PCL phase
Normalization of function. Decomposition of the extra cells by fungi or TB bacteria would be normal. Often, however, the thickenings remain and become encapsulated. In that case, the hyperthyroidism persists.
Symptoms
Thyroiditis in the presence of fungi or TB bacteria.
Hanging healing or many relapses: decrease in thyroid tissue and slow-working thyroid, hypothyroidism (see also endoderm).
